Everything was cool till those drums came in. They're way too quiet and just not what I was expecting to hear with the guitar. I wish I could just play a set to show you what I think would fit better, lol. But less crash, actually none. No crash. Just a raw kick with a punching snare and an open hat. Have the beat start out simple and slowly evolve into more fills and improvising as you build the song.

Anyway, the song itself was super chill, I like the main guitar melody. Everyone's visualizations of a city match very well, haha. Good work. :D

I know I should totally need to upgrade or replace the acoustic drums, in fact, I treat them as placeholders like they're from a general MIDI soundfont or something.
Thanks for the tips ^^

It sounds alright, could use some more added background instruments to bring it to life more. You could always use a synth for the bass. I feel like the drums could also use more punch here, but I'm sure you could figure out all the EQing if you sat down with this for a while. It also loops very nicely. :D

KKSlider60 responds:

Yeah I was largely overwhelmed by excitement and ended up rushing things, but I really did not intend to make a proper track either... <3 It was just to show a very small portion of what I can do with Shreddage. Thanks again ^^

A neat new style to hear from you, while still keeping in touch with your ambient side. :P I feel like the guitar sounds a bit muffled, if you could bring out more high end freqz in it it'd have a lot more power. Other than that, nifty work. :D

KKSlider60 responds:

I realized it much later than I probably needed to raise up the knobs, but well, it still retains its "experiment" status so I don't care. xD Thanks man

Dude this kicks ass. Too bad deadmau5 lost the files for it, but you've done an incredible job of reproducing it. One of my issues is that the original melody with all the sliding gets lost underneath the other melodies that come in. Maybe EWing or sidechaining could help there. Other than that, awesome work, definitely downloading this one.

BuggMusic responds:

thanks a lot! yeah it sucks that he lost the files, i really do love october and I wish he could've finished it

Very nice, like Sookies said, it would be a great ending track for a tragic movie. The leads flow very nicely on top of the chords and rhythms. My only suggestion would be to bring out some deeper tones, like add a deep brass section at that build at 0:37, sousaphone or trombone, or if you're trying to keep it light, maybe even a trumpet would do. Anyway, great work as always. :D

KKSlider60 responds:

Yeah, I still think it's missing something. In fact I didn't use brass for some reason.
Thanks for the suggestions ^^

Wow, this is truly touching. I love it when a song can really grab you and make you feel like your own memories are a video for the music. I can't wait to hear the finished version, awesome work so far. :D

Lundsfryd responds:

Thanks man. Yeah I can't wait either :)

Super repetitive, but but minor additions and changes keep it flowing, not to mention super catchy. I guess the only way it could be better is to have a section that's completely different, or just way more building and additions. Other than that it's a pretty sweet track, nice work.

SirSirius responds:

You are absolutelyright ! That's why it's still Work In Progress, I still gotta add some variation, need to work on a nice breakdown or bass section :)

Super simple and pleasant, almost like a humbling sense that things can change for the better. The title fits perfectly, and my only complaint is that it gets a little repetitive. It could use a bit more dynamic, like a break and a buildup back to the main section. Anyway, it's pretty catchy and groovy, nice work so far.

The-Cockenator responds:

Thanks man really like comments like these :D and i will try to finish it when i can ;)

Hey, solid groove. :D When you say it was recorded live, you mean with a DJ setup, right? What exactly were you using? Anyway, this song is awesome, you've gotten loads better from your stuff I can remember from back in 2011. Great work.

durn responds:

Ah, no, sorry, I guess I worded that improperly, meant that it's just recorded straight-up without quantization. :) Thanks for the review, Robin, and thanks for noticing the improvements! :D

I've been gone from newgrounds for too long. It brings me so much joy to know it's still the same. I love you all
